The inception of this movement and make it into a strong and vigorous organization which will involve itself in socio-civic activities to help poor communities, was primarily the result of the various philanthropic acts of Engr. Sergio C. Pascual of Butuan City. The people who act as the brain trust of the movement and are mainly responsible in charting its thrust and activities are Romeo Valentino Catalan and Jun Dominise. Catalan is a former seminarian and had once taught at a local university. He was also the former manager of IFM station of the RMN radio network and presently the vice president of KBP, Butuan Chapter. Jun Dominise, on the other hand, had served in various capacities in the House of Representatives and Malacañang , and  is also a radio commentator and  newspaper columnist  in Butuan City. Another person who is also instrumental in launching the movement is Mr. Osmartin Reston, a former Regional Legal Officer for Caraga of the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP).

           The programs and activities of MPMNM will go beyond 2010 as this movement is conceived as an instrument which will work in tandem with the government and other non-governmental organizations in fighting poverty in the country through the provision of livelihood projects for the poor in Butuan city and in other parts of Caraga. The other objective of the of the movement  is the political reform aspect, and this is the reason why the MPMNM is supporting the candidacies of Sen. Noynoy Aquino and his running mate Sen. Mar Roxas for  president and vice-president respectively in next year’s elections.

        The movement has high confidence in the integrity, credibility and capability of Noynoy and Mar and since they posses these important qualities it believes that they can effectively institute genuine and thorough- going reforms in the political, social and economic spheres of our national life.The movement is currently conducting organizing activities in Butuan City and in the whole Caraga Region and other parts of Mindanao to create  the support base for the Noynoy-Mar tandem . It aims to provide the critical mass of volunteers needed by Noynoy and Mar to win in next year’s polls.
